Prestige Paving offers milling services for all size projects. Milling is a controlled process used to remove the surface layers of existing pavement to a desired depth. Milling machines are specifically designed for the purpose of restoring the pavement surface to a specified grade and profile. Because of their advanced design, the equipment operator can easily control the amount of material removed. It can be used to remove part or all of the existing pavement layers depending on your project specific requirements.
Milling maintains the integrity of the sub-base by removing the pavement’s surface layers with little or no disturbance of the underlying stone. The resulting pavement can still be used as a driving surface minimizing interruptions to the flow of traffic. Additionally the newly milled surface can then be overlaid with a fraction of the material and cost associated with full depth paving. Since the material that is generated during milling operations is recyclable, it helps the environment.
Milling is often a viable solution to poor or reduced
drainage due to diminished capacity of curbs and gutters. Milling can also be used to taper pavement surfaces so they uniformly match curbs and gutters allowing for increased water flow. This is especially beneficial when grade heights are restricted.
